the boarding school of ponouaipou

Founded almost ten years ago by Father Alain Bourdery, formerly an agricultural training center, the boarding school of Ponouaipou, a small Karen village, now hosts around fifty children aged 7 to 14 from mountain villages. Far from schools and college, the mission hosts them in a family setting, punctuated by school hours of course, but also farm life, garden work, prayer life, small crafts (weaving, forging) and singing classes. Supervised by two Karen sisters from the Mepon Congregation (Chiang Mai) and a Karen couple, the children of the center form as a large family, where the older ones help the little ones, in an environment conducive to study and integral development. of the person. The center has been supported since its creation by the Enfants du Mékong association.
